If you’re looking for something fun to do on Thursday night and Emo-Rock isn’t really your thing, you should check out Zach Deputy at the HOB located at the White Swan Building in Dallas. The admission price is only $5! I saw him about a year ago at a small show in Greenville, SC and it was very impressive- like Keller Williams with a little more bluesy-soul. I got to speak with him right before the show and he is just as big a ray of sunshine as his songs. Download or YouTube “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Twisty Twisty” and “Sunshine” from his CD Out of the Water. Show starts at 10:00pm.
Mariah Carey, though I haven’t seen her wear her hair naturally like this in just shy of a decade, will be stopping at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prarie (map and directions) on February 18th. Be a Hero and get tickets for your significant other/mother/aunt/neighbor. Everyone loves her and it’s sure to be a great show.
On January 20th, you can see the new Broadway musical “A Color Purple,” based on the novel by Alice Walker and the movie by Steven Spielberg. The New York Times has mixed feelings about the show, citing its “enjoyably hokey cinematic ravishments” that are much like the film. Apparently, the NY Times also feels; however, that the musical is tackling too much, saying that it never slows down “long enough to embrace it.” Bottom line: If Oprah presents it, I’m more than likely going to see it eventually.
When: January 20th, 8pm
Where: Music Hall at Fair Park
If you’re looking for something to do next Wednesday, you should go see Nowitzki and the gang take on Kobe and the Lakers! Even though the Lakers have won 37 out of the last 42 games when the teams have met, Dallas remains hopeful. Check out the Mavs’ Ticketmaster page to find tickets and get the full schedule.
